Description

STRONG 70S-2 – Copper Coated Solid Wire for MIG & TIG Welding

STRONG 70S-2 is a premium-quality copper-coated carbon-manganese solid welding wire engineered to deliver superior performance across a wide range of welding applications. Designed for both MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding processes, this wire is known for its excellent arc stability, consistent feedability, and high-quality weld output. It is especially suitable for applications where reliability, strength, and precision are critical.

One of the standout features of STRONG 70S-2 is its unique chemical composition, which includes triple deoxidizers—Titanium (Ti), Zirconium (Zr), and Aluminum (Al). These elements play a crucial role in improving the wire’s deoxidizing capability, making it highly effective when welding over surfaces that are not perfectly clean. In real-world industrial environments, materials often contain rust, mill scale, oil, or other contaminants. The advanced deoxidizing properties of STRONG 70S-2 help to minimize porosity and ensure sound welds even under such challenging conditions. This makes it a reliable choice for both workshop and on-site welding operations.

The copper coating on the wire further enhances its performance by improving electrical conductivity and ensuring smooth and consistent wire feeding during welding. This coating also helps reduce wear on contact tips, thereby extending the life of welding consumables and minimizing downtime. The result is a more efficient welding process with stable arc characteristics and reduced spatter, leading to cleaner weld beads and less post-weld cleanup.

STRONG 70S-2 is particularly well-suited for welding carbon-manganese steels, which are widely used in structural and industrial applications. It is commonly used for welding mild steel (MS) plates, structural steel frameworks, pipes, fittings, castings, and forgings. Its versatility makes it an ideal choice for fabrication, construction, maintenance, and repair work across various industries such as oil and gas, shipbuilding, automotive, and heavy engineering.

Another key advantage of this wire is its excellent performance in welding thin materials, including galvanized and electro-galvanized steels. Welding such materials can often be challenging due to the presence of zinc coatings, which can lead to defects if not handled properly. STRONG 70S-2’s superior deoxidizing properties help produce high-quality welds with minimal defects, even in these demanding applications. It is capable of delivering X-ray quality welds, making it suitable for critical applications where weld integrity is essential.

In addition to its versatility in material compatibility, STRONG 70S-2 is also designed for all-position welding. This means it can be used effectively in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions without compromising weld quality. This feature is particularly beneficial for pipe welding and structural applications where access and positioning may be limited. The wire’s smooth arc transfer and controlled weld pool make it easier for welders to achieve consistent results across different positions.

STRONG 70S-2 is especially preferred for welding small diameter pipes, where precision and control are crucial. Its stable arc and low spatter characteristics allow for neat and uniform welds, reducing the need for rework. This makes it a cost-effective solution for industries that require high productivity and consistent quality.

From a mechanical performance standpoint, welds produced using STRONG 70S-2 exhibit excellent strength, ductility, and toughness. These properties ensure that the welded joints can withstand mechanical stress, vibration, and varying environmental conditions. As a result, it is suitable for both static and dynamic load-bearing applications.

Ease of use is another important benefit of this welding wire. It offers excellent feedability and arc stability, making it suitable for both experienced welders and those who are still developing their skills. The reduced spatter and smooth bead appearance not only improve productivity but also enhance the overall aesthetic quality of the weld.

In terms of application flexibility, STRONG 70S-2 can be used in a variety of shielding gas environments, typically with CO₂ or mixed gas combinations such as Argon-CO₂ blends. This adaptability allows it to be integrated easily into existing welding setups without requiring significant changes in equipment or process parameters.

Overall, STRONG 70S-2 stands out as a dependable and high-performance welding wire that meets the demands of modern fabrication and industrial welding. Its combination of advanced metallurgy, superior deoxidizing capability, and consistent performance makes it an excellent choice for achieving high-quality welds in a wide range of conditions.

Whether you are working on structural steel fabrication, pipeline installation, equipment manufacturing, or maintenance and repair tasks, STRONG 70S-2 provides the reliability and efficiency needed to get the job done right. With its ability to handle less-than-ideal surface conditions and deliver strong, defect-free welds, it is a valuable addition to any welding operation.
